I went through it.
It's traditional. Just like the law recognises the marriage certificate, tradition recognises the tea ceremony.

the tea ceremony thingy, is what i will viewed as the most important part of the chinese wedding actually.

Its so much cheaper, more respectful and you can include in all the families members and skip that dinner if you want to get away with it.

btw, TX has not meet my dad side relatives because they r so gossipy and love to play 'games'. if only i can 'no' to invite them. i even told my mom i dun them on red table but my mum being always soooooo nice, gave in when my dad say to follow tradition.

i also agree to do it out of respect for elders. we are chinese after all and that is how the elders like to be respected. for me i get ang bao for doing it so why not Laughing

Its much more of a tradition for a grooms side to do tea ceremony for the whole entire clan.

Brides side, its much more restrained to only the immediate families.
